Unfortunate statement of the 21st Century to say the least. I would clearly suggest that an organization such as the military in any country where both sexes are working side by side adheres to a higher standard of conduct where sexual innuendo and potential harassment becomes detrimental to moral/ethical trust that is required when watching each other’s backs.
I for one, would immediately resign(no I’m not suggesting this is the case for the General – he can decide that on his own) but on the battlefield if day in day out, all I could count on support is sexualized(I know it’s not a word) content during conversations and not the matter at hand – more like life & death issues, at the very least… operational field presence.
I would highly recommend an accelerated upgrade as this is the military and not a wait and see civilian evolution of social issues.
And yes, for the record… the General is right. Biological wiring. But as in the 21st Century society, the mainstream public is being asked to pull up their pants, zip and rein in the wieners from the male population and keep everything from escalating to the point of social mayhem with due regard to safety as the end game during daily life. As for women increasingly having more presence in the military, they will have to bear a burden until such time as they speak up and out. Unless that happens as in all law enforcement arenas, they will paint themselves as targets and bull’s eyes.
So the Critical Question is… HOW EVOLVED & ENLIGHTENED CAN A 21st Century Society become… even when we are still taking about military service???
