E-mail has had its day. It’s time to move on – The Globe and Mail

I would not discount email yet.  The most important reason people still retain the use of it while rooted in another era is that it is FREE.  It’s hard to deny that emails has captured people’s communications as an important tool that has hard an enormous impact on the yet older technology of the Pony Express or turtle mail system.  Those are still alive despite it’s tumultous upheaval as king of the ancient world.

The postal service while in crisis mode still has enormous benefits of tangible real life paper.  Given maybe enough time, it may end up either re-invented or in the trash heap of history.  It is still awaiting it’s knight in shining armour to rescue it’s relevancy.

One last note to consider.  In jumping into newer models of communications, especially media services… you tie yourselves to it and any financial model it decides best fits the times.  AND they still have to stand test of time in terms of lifespans.  How many people would be ticked off changing communications models every few years if a better one comes along???

Emails are cheap…. FREE and tested !

Finally, don’t forget this very important chapter of history. You still use a telephone that has undergone radical changes. Yet despite better methods, refuses to die. Phone conversations have morphed into DATA EXPLOSION & TEXTING. Let’s see if what becomes of email systems yet to be. I’ll bet the next big thing may just blow models out of the water. The right brain(s) need time to do their magic.
