Critical Question – Since it seems no one has asked

If driving around Calgary and accidents which are described as entirely,(OK,  I’ll bite and buy)  drivers faults and they should be more careful…

WHY the need for any expenditures on barriers at all?

Seems like reckless spending when money could be put to better use and perhaps driver education,  restrictions,  fines and law enforcement.

I need enlightenment cause I’m not getting the ‘WHY’  when so many other jurisdictions and cities go out of their way to make barriers more reflective of extremes.   Better safe than sorry motto that saves a life and impacts communities at large and mitigates lawsuits.

Just asking for common sense answers,  not excuses to defend priorities of the past.   Maybe just maybe all the factors weren’t well understood.

I would think that by now with every do-dad on the road,  things are somewhat different than say 50 years ago with previous studies.
