U of C study suggests pretty food packaging as important as brand names for kids.

Packaging is so important, I equate it with BRANDING.

As kids we grow up with things we don’t take notice of while playing and being who we are. But later memories kick in of our grandmothers and mothers toiling away in kitchens making home cooked meals. Those memories come in sharp focus later on in our own lives and especially once they pass away. The emotional value attachment to the packaging is an instant sell – done deal on store shelves.

Once newer fangled retail outlets come up with a solid packaging model, it’s brand is forever marked with the colors, style and textures of what makes it a solid hit with consumers. The smell test maybe there if it somehow manages to seep through the packaging as well. Bread for instance is the number one hit in the gut that starts a whole slew of digestive processes that screams buy me NOW in stores.

Bingo you’re right on the button with this study πŸ™‚

For lack of a better term, call it EYE CANDY for consumers.
