I have to cut two people from my team. How do I choose? – The Globe and Mail.

Ah choices eh !

As with the typical industrial age thinking and factory mentality, we’re all in the dark ages when it comes to how to take advantage of changes happening at the speed of light.

Opportunities abound, but thinking lags.

Here’s the solution.

First when you’ve got finalists and your down to 2 choices between either this or that it’s simple man !

You’ve got 2 candidates of almost equal merits, but for some reason you can only hire one – pick your reason – whatever !

Solution is simple. No more lifetime jobs, so invent new ones.

Choose both candidates to do almost the same work, but in their own ways – they manage themselves and stated results and goals.

Take yourself completely out of the equation and watch with intent to harness the potentials of each. Take the new information and create a company with the newly generated information and profit online or in whatever line of business you happen to be.

The time off will give you some rest from stress and having chosen whether your choices were right. Additionally you don’t have to choose when the time comes and crunch about layoffs and who to give notice to. You’re on your way to making money, having created something original and more importantly – something in demand.

All with less work and more importantly much needed rest. See it as an investment instead of a cost cutting measure. Companies win, you win, employees win. Partner up with the original company for cost inefficiencies or go it alone if they refuse – simple math financials. And you get to say I told you so, when your good sense of intelligence pays off.
