Globe and Mail – Where did all our skilled workers go?

Where did all our skilled workers go? – The Globe and Mail.

Well said and I’m sure not a surprise for job seekers – no not the ones looking for work, but the ones looking to hire.

In truth though, I’m positive that the whole system from Top to Bottom is to blame for the mess we’re in.

Governments listening to the wrong people with fictional stats, Educational institutions buried in deep do-do only pre-occupied with raising funds and prestige to the exclusion of having the optics to figure out demographic shifts well ahead of time – hey they’re suppose to be the ones with the brains telling us these things before the rest of us get there. If not, what is the value of a Ph.D worth on the market if they can’t get it right ??? Then there are all types of industries somehow being strung along going with the ebb and flow of the work at hand of staying in business and afloat only to rely on trade workers, aging by the boatload like refugees on sinking ships, then crying foul over the fact they have poorly qualified people to man stations with badly new technologies needed to stay competitive and in business.

It’s a surprise that all the chickens have flown out of the coop at the same time with no heads and now just screaming we need good people and are willing to do what it takes to get them from aboard.

I have no problems bringing people – qualified and willing to work in Canada. We have a shitload of space left geographically to fit in another billion at least. That’ll pay the national debt bills down in a damn hurry.

What I have trouble with, is that once again we’re taking the stupid road to nowhere. At the risk of sounding like I’m repeating myself over and over again on the subject, we don’t value Canadians of any age and definitely think they’re second or worst rate in terms of training them and bringing them up to speed on what’s needed for industries. We would rather spend money getting someone from overseas first then spending money to train, hire and keep any Canadian in a Canadian based trade industry.

It’s a sad statement when just recently even medically trained people can’t get work in Canada. All the years of hearing Doctors and Nurses getting their degrees to only fly down south after being hired by U.S. hospitals and medical industry.

Here’s where I think this is all going. We’ll spend lots of money hiring foreign workers while someone is trying to figure out where to get money to train Canadians in the meantime. Once they figure out what’s what, the trains, planes and automobiles will have gone by 1000 miles per hour and we’ll be on another sinking boat screaming chicken little that the sky is falling at the same time. What no more trade workers needed, now we need people for XYZ sectors of the economy.

Somebody has better figure out another way of doing business – QUICK. Least Canada will be in more than serious shit than we currently are. It doesn’t take an Einstein that with a poplulation of only 35 million maybe up to 50 million and none Canadian that eventually everything is going to be transferred back to where these workers came from.

I’ve already seen it briefly this summer working with a boss from Albania. Then there’s Mexicans in Calgary, Philippines etc….

Doesn’t take a clown with a Ph.D to figure out they’ll do the math and understand there’s more money to be made with their new found training and skills back home. Much quicker than Canada where we don’t have a population base and even then what’s left will be 6 feet under the ground in short order.

The buck doesn’t stop in Canada – it lands only to fly right back out anywhere but here.

Why would an imported foreign worker in God’s name be happy to only make $1 million dollars in Canada, taxed about everything to death when they could let’s say go back to China or India and make $1 billion dollars with little trouble in the same amount of time.

Why, what logical person who loves money be that stupid – Ph.D’s don’t bother answering this – this question is directed to people with REAL LIFE COMMON SENSE who don’t need numbers to figure things out pretty damn quick.
