Agreed that this experience of pain has changed you.
The term Dying with Dignity is not avoidance of pain with the only option of suicide as the delivery vehicle.
It references the personal wishes, intention of the person choosing to end their lives on a more conscious level instead of the focus being either intolerable pain as you described it or by using drugs such as morphine and waiting in fear between the next big wave of pain and not having immediate access to morphine relief.
The dignity of choosing between pain or drugs is the conscious intent. This is the best current version available to humanity at this time until such time that the spiritual abilities of individuals makes this a non-issue. A-Sexual accension !
Suicide in this case is the wrong term. That is reserved for people who are in such a myopic optical state of mind that it is the solution to an otherwise unresolvable situation other than death as the answer.
If I were to take a guess, the search for a solution and finding death is the best answer takes precedence over the pre-occupation of unbearable pain for those using suicide as a final answer. The pain is so overwhelming, that it becomes information overload and is bloated out in the sea of noise of the mind racing to the finish line of suicide when that realization comes to a full stop and nothing else comes close to an answer. That answer is considered a God sent solution if committed by the person going through with the act of suicide. Hell is the present unbearable pain and anything else such as relief from it tranquility, respite and paradise. The termination of pain is heavenly.
In my opinion, Dying with Dignity after all options are understood clearly and completely are a personal choice that merits no outside interference.
Outside assistance should only be considered by any party that is in CONSCIOUS AGREEMENT. You cannot force anyone to participate in such a manner that it violates their own intrinsic values and belief systems that would impact their Karma. A medical official should be present – 3 preferable, an outside person as observer – journalist preferable, someone from the patient’s faith and belief system, family, friends if wished. Finally the person who will be assisting witb the act of assisting the patient in any capacity to end their lives with Dignity.
A lawyer should be present and the explicit wishes of tge patient are to be followed.
AT NO TIME SHOULD ANY BODY PARTS, PIECES, DNA, CELLS, ORGANS, BLOOD AND FLUIDS BE USED IN ANY COMMERCIAL LEGAL OR ILLEGAL MANNER !
THAT INCLUDES TRADE, BARTER, EXCHANGES AND LOANS. CLONING AND COPYING ON ANY OF THE ABOVE IS AN ABSOLUTE NO !
THE PATIENT MAY WISH TO DONATE THEIR BODY TO SCIENCE, IN WHICH CASE THE ABOVE CONDITIONS STILL REMAIN IN EFFECT AS TO COMMERCIAL TRADE.
For all others who don’t consider it an option, the traditional method of morphine remains.
