…”but I think it falls into this larger journey we’re all on, which is that none of us are perfect, all of us have feet of clay, and this notion of redemption, of second chances, is part and parcel to the American way”….
Proof will be in the pudding with Redemption being the cornerstone of significant change in South Carolina.
The state and especially Myrtle Beach has always held a special place in my heart. Yet even as young as I once was, I could still see the distinctions and differences between the haves and have nots along the road leading to Myrtle Beach from South of the Border.
To be fair, the same could be said at the time when the 95 was but still under construction and having to drive on good portions of the road meant going through small towns along the way.
I cannot profess an intimate 21st century knowledge of the social status of both North and South Carolina. But I’m willing to bet with the 2008 downturn, things aren’t in the greatest shape.
And I wonder with campgrounds charging what was then $50+ per site per day for vacationers how that translates into economic benefit for all those who live in South Carolina.
Myrtle Beach has grown up in leaps and bounds since my childhood. Much like Alberta. Both places that have had a special place in my heart. Let’s not put that image to waste and have things turn for the better for the people who live, eat, breathe, work and play there.
Make a difference this time around as a legacy and way to turn the page with a new leaf.
