U.S. rejects North Korean demand for nuclear status

Rightly so. I know what the solution is to the North / South re-integration or at least a better co-operative working relationship. However the question in my mind is whether this creates a better or not so good result in the region.
More nukes in the region by whomever is not good news.
More hard questions need to be asked and answered in public before I can propose something and put it on the table for discussion.
Given that – what do the 5 other interested parties really want. Is there an real interest in having them get along or is the status quo just working fine and is manageable the way it is?
I would suggest humbly that Russia takes the leadership position on this issue.
