For Canada’s telecoms, battle for data dollars heats up
…”Canada’s largest wireless carrier reported first-quarter results late Monday that showed more of its customers are upgrading to smartphones, which is generating higher data revenues as users access Internet-based services. But Rogers is also spending more to attract and keep those customers loyal, providing rich subsidies to entice consumers to make the switch to the fanciest phones on the market.”….
Whether I like it or not, smartphones are here to stay. As with all other electronic devices, data flows from one to another is way that are not obvious to people. Whatever you decide to call it, the age of being connected to everything is upon us.
It is no wonder that all Telcos and ISP’s have been clamouring the last decade due to ever increasing bandwidth data traveling on their networks. I’ll bet that many of them have figured it out, but due to their inability to ‘come out’ on the subject due to fear of reprisals, have quietly gone about their business of putting caps in place, while at the same time increasing the inefficiencies of their networks and infrastructures. That has allowed them to bump up the speeds available to clients.
Absolutely everything in terms of data captured is being sent over the waves for Intelligence gathering and Business Intelligence planning. That more fat pipes are needed is no surprise to handle all the devices and electronics explosion.
I for one, don’t like it, however given options and my love for techie things and gizmos and gadgets can see the potential upside of all this business of the IT Tech Industry and what can come about it.
What I don’t like is the invasion of privacy about all my personal business. Since I am a highly prized candidate due to many factors, in terms of keeping an eye out for what’s what, I have come to accept it as a price to pay in terms of my own potential spiritual path. It in my opinion is the legacy of What Matters Most around the future outcome of humanity. No doubt that evil intents are out there. But let us not forget that 99 percent of all humans born on this planet start off as innocent babies and are taught, pushed, pulled and subjected to greater outside external forces that end in tragedies when things get skewed and short circuited.
With that said, it is still no excuse for what transpires in terms of the damage done to the general public who just go about their daily lives expecting no less than to live them without so much as having fears of being victims.
Most of western civilization can count on their governments to keep it that way, even if it costs them some loss of rights. However I believe that the issue is much bigger when people continue to be tracked when it is determined that they pose no credible threat.
That’s the real issue I have. Now back to the data issue – I’ve decided for better or worst that a smartphone or two and the latest techie things are the way to go despite the fact that they are monitored to the hilt.
The WHY lies in the fact that if I manage them smart and well enough they will assist in being agents of change in positive ways regardless of what is happening outside of those boxes.
But we’ll need more Telco’s, more competition and much more computing power on infrastructure sides due to what’s coming down the pipes with MindMaps, CRMs and Holographic elements as we move forward into the future. I’m giving it a decade at most before what we have now becomes TOP out to the max.
