No doubt I’m looking for extra-ordinary work. Can it happen on a dime – sure can. Was looking for that needle in a haystack and the girl I like and could go further is just down the street. Young mind you and really I haven’t imposed myself other than provide my name and contact information.
So see, even I’m surprised and I really wasn’t looking all that hard. If it happens it happens.
Now as for work – oops, see I did it myself. Lots of options high and low. Am I excited. Well yes, finally I can see that the expectation of quality with those surrounding me – is well for a word lacking in more finesse – shitty. It’s unfortunate that for the most part, the conditions are next to impossible in turning for the better. It has so much potential, yet turning around the Titanic would probably be easier.
So, I’m not looking for work and job search engines can only provide direction and indications of where to look for that hidden network of career that actually has silver linings in it.
Sure they can pump out lots of results and information. The trick is to not get caught up and excited with what’s listed as if you where on a dating site say something like ‘Plenty of Fish’ which by the way I’ve never used. That’s my tendency and this time I’ve got all the right tools at my disposal at just the right time to say – whoa wait a minute – I’ll burnout chasing my tail just through ‘HEAT’ expenditure.
Search yes, but smarter – dumb and dumber…. been there done that when that had use and purpose. Time to turn a new Leaf and find that extra-ordinary dream job via hidden and personal one on one contacts. Last but not least – Social Media will definitely play a larger role, but it still has to prove itself – it’s not quite there yet.
As a last note – so far in terms of great job search engine – CareerBuilder with a second in tow – Indeed. I’ll continue to review them and get you the down and dirty on what and why it works.
