I can relate – with an ALBERTA WORKS client services worker on the phone suggesting that I would be better taking on a $9/hr job for 40 hours instead of being paid income support for the last month than staying on a temp agency work assignment of $10/hr. You do the math, but it seems like the logic doesn’t add up. And it’s insulting to put it mildly. Add more insult to injury, I am left feeling after doing everything right that I should beg for doing the right thing and not screwing or robbing the system of it’s responsibility to help out when in need.

Let me tell you, back in 1974 when I was being paid $1/hr, FAMILY BUSINESS called DUNKIN’ DONUTS. I could barely afford filling up my gas tank in a Toyota Land Cruiser that I was given the right to drive. And that was before the OIL EMBARGO. If you THINK HARD enough – INTENTIONAL HEAT at work when I first started driving in a 4 x 4 truck. Does that tell you anything about SOCIAL ENGINEERING even way back when !

After all the stories are said and done, it’s no different today. Except it’s a HELL OF A LOT MORE SOPHISTICATED and subtle by stressing you out with busy useless running around ! Do the math now – Baseline and re-calculate in a year, 2 years or 5 years from now. You’ll be no further ahead and maybe worst off !
