While not PTSD, these types of issues fall into the category of Moral/Ethical Standards and abiding by them.
I’m sure this is a global phenomena in which an authority figure breeches the line (Reference Point) between personal/professional conduct and takes advantage and betrays the fiduciary duty placed upon them by their conduct.
Just imagine for a moment, that you’re in a terrible fire and a fireman takes a moment or two to ask you on a date and your response is no ! A paramedic doing the same while on route to hospital from a serious car crash.
The difficulties faced on a daily basis by all professionals is overbearing and immense. Add insult to injury and our systems break down rapidly, so much so that we are left with whistleblowers from within and their collective consciences to spill the beans at great cost and change to all.
It’s not the first and not the last, let’s at least make it clear on the professional conduct from politicians, judges, lawyers, police that common sense needs a better foothold within their ranks. We have implicit trust in their help in times of trouble. Our democratic system depends on it working much better than it does.
And if I’m dreaming and idealistic about this point then we’re really in trouble. God help us all, cause when it comes down to choice, if we’re unwilling to do the right thing, something much larger than Life will choose for us – without warnings. We’ve exhausted our chances at changing course without repercussions.
