……“Imagine a poor worker who is getting paid $17 an hour who needs his job,” he said. “Do you think he or she is going to complain about something when government inspectors and the agency aren’t rolling up the flag?”…

….“The line speeds, when they get up high, you don’t have time to clean your knife properly,” he said. “If the line speed is too great, you cheat. You don’t have enough time to do it. And, consequently, you are not doing all the things [required for] cleanliness.”…..

These are the 2 primary reasons I was fired from my stair manufacturing company. Safety, speed and cleanliness @ $17.00/hr was not the priority for my former company. Just quantity with absolutely ZERO TRAINING. I had to insist for instructions, help and guidance for “How-to’s” every step of the way.

Seems to me that whatever the industry in Alberta for labourers, this is the primary method of operation.

Zero Safety, Zero Training, Zero cleanliness, Zero help to understand how-to’s around machinery, Zero Visibility/Presence of a supervisor to take concerns to for resolution, Zero Hand-offs of supervisors, safety officers and clear instructions.

Sorry, but I tell it like it is even if the initial shock & awe of truth impacts industries. In the long run, people run businesses for their owners and industries run the economy for the provinces and Canada.

I now believe this is NOT JUST an Alberta problem, but a national epidemic that needs to be changed and fixed.

I’ll keep at it until something is done – so help me and you – God !
