The Northvolt project in Quebec has officially ended as the government has declared it dead. The Quebec government announced that it will not continue funding the project due to Northvolt’s failure to present a satisfactory plan. Northvolt declared bankruptcy in March 2025, and the government has lost approximately $270 million invested in the project. The government plans to recover the remaining investment and will review the energy allocated to the project for other economic development purposes
