This conservation officer who refused to kill two baby bears won a long legal battle — but the government still won’t let him go back to work | The Star

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Conservation officer owns the gun license and all responsibilities it legally entails.

In using a gun in its intended purpose, is to use deadly force in an attempt to stop greater harm from proceeding therefrom.

It is my opinion that the news article does not mention that the baby cubs were posing a danger or repetitively going to be a continuing threat to public safety.

The Conservation officer’s first duty is to “CONSERVE” LIFE… NOT DESTROY unless in extreme circumstances LIFE IS IN DANGER…

The officer made a reasonable logical assessment that LIFE was worth preserving. As such the error of poor judgement falls on the wrong decisions of the government to destroy the cubs at any cost, including the harm suffered thereafter to the officer.

Neither decisions by the government can be justified as being humane in the eyes of the law and those of the Charter of Rights
