I wholeheartedly agree.
However, until such time as accountability and trust can be won back in the minds of citizens everywhere…
Cameras will have to be the start of impending change where resistance and the current status quo culture of turning a blind eye when things go way wrong are still the ‘normal’ way of doing things within police law and order procedures and training.
In the meantime…
Can someone start writing the new accountability statutes, rules, regulations, policies and ways of building trust again ?
BTW… I’ll bet that there are many “GOOD/GREAT” officers who are heartbroken, disillusioned and stressed out when they realize what has gone terribly wrong within their ranks and have to bite their tongues or risk being ostracized and left to fend for themselves!
Grappling with your conscience and coming to terms with the thing you love most when things aren’t okay MUST be hell on earth.
