Whatever the process put into place, I firmly believe that all schools have always had this issue.
Hence a past attire code, not to box in students, but to defuse any potential suggestive and compromising situation.
Any lopsided position of authority is always vulnerable both ways because of Thermodynamics.
That is the nature of the universe we live in.
How can positively charged atom not become attracted to a negative one ???
The stronger and more powerful charge will attract the other negative or positive with disregard to all else.
In this case where teachers of all strips in positions of academic power and implicit trust of conduct, a public process should be implemented to flag the situation, people involved and let one or the other recurse themselves from proximity on a permanent basis. It becomes absusive when common sense and rules are ignored and a power imbalance becomes clearly visible and a present danger(social standard expectation of normal accepted behaviour becomes agreed upon, to the disregard of the loss of trust) when rules and regulations are broken.
These are the price to pay when a social group has expectations and an individual chooses to join by association.
Each school has a mission, a constitution and declaration of purpose. If an individual wishes to abide within expected boundaries, then it serves the good of the whole, only if the moral ethical senses of direction are not compromised or corrupted.
An individual has the right to opine, if in their opinion something is morally ethically wrong and the bias of the whole is headed for a cliff. I call that an ALARM BELL.WARNING SHOT !
This goes for other positions of power as well. In many cases with a more fine tooth comb on the details.
PS – DON’T FORGET THAT STUDENTS PLAY A HUGE ROLE IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS ! THE TEACHER IS PROVOKED… GROOMED TOO !
