Before I truly endorse Calgary, there are some things that bug me. Honestly I’m impressed with the Police and security measures.
Truly for once it is NOT authorities that are the problem. The problem is that Alberta and I’ll bet Calgary more than Edmonton is a magnet par excellence in attracting all that is. Good and Bad. And it that weren’t bad enough, people getting kicked out of the West Coast end up making pit stops here.
While the Drop In Center is a great idea, I have the overbearing feeling that it is strategic and self serving. I truly don’t know what the solution is having been here only a short while. I know that attempts are being made to get the ball rolling in the right direction. But having spent a short time here and there, it seems like the place is somewhat akin to the Taj Mahal where it’s too cushy too much of a place to crash and burn after having spent time out in the real world once again hooked on the same habits that brought someone into the place.
Salvation Army just down the road – ditto too. What I truly question is the development in that core that will impact in the long term what the outcome of everyone streaming into it will be on people using the Drop In and Salvation Army HOTEL.
Surely a heck of alot of effort and money was put into getting the place cleaned up and ramped up. Still more needs to be done, because overtime more than what is currently there will not work. If putting so much money and effort into something like that goes to waste then it just becomes a controlling measure that will overflow into the surrounding neighbourhood and create more crime once again. You will be putting temptation back into the very proximity of these 2 places. More crime, more police, more bad news and more this and that.
Think it through and plan for more cause it’s a slam dunk and in the cards if I endorse.
I can’t say for sure, it’s a thing in the moment thing. So far things have been off to a rough start, not because of me, but because of arrogance and ignorance. When I say something, consider it done – just a matter of time that’s all.
