Why You Should Revisit Your Five Year Plan

I’ll just add this little piece here to help things along. Any long term plan and by that I mean something starting from 1 year onward to let’s say 5 years in this article’s example is always a moving target.
Future is wrought with risks and changes many of them unpredictable and unavoidable in the majority of people’s cases. Like all New Year’s resolutions that your own one day for X number of months only to fall off, faraway goals end up in the same types of situations because of multiple variables that were never factored into getting there.
A better method I believe is to take the Oriental hand ‘FAN’ method. Yep just made up that term ! It is more representative of getting you there in steps for 1 major reason. If you hold just such a fan in your hand closed. It is a straight line. Your hand is the starting point and the end of the fan is the Goal to reach. Now slowly open it up and it’ll start to spiral as it unfolds. Each ‘RIBBED’ portion can be considered a ‘Baby Step’ along your journey to that goal. If you notice the closest part to your hand is very tight in turns and if you can imagine yourself starting off near the center your understand why you are passionate and motivated simply because things are going at a faster rate within your mindset. As you fan out and get farther away from your hand, the spiral is bigger and going around it much slower. The Ribs are wider and the steps bigger to take requiring more NRGY and motivation to stay on track. The distance traveled initially from your hand to any far point in the spiral shape has required alot of capital investment from yourself in terms of time, NRGY and navigational thinking. And it’s easier to slide back down towards the center where your hand is than to move forward.
A little trick here is that on your let’s say 5 year plan, spread out the risk of missing the target by laying down many multiple goals that are all inter-connected in some way or fashion and each one of them helps build up a part of the picture of some other goals. By spreading out the risk of failure, you are increasing your chances exponentially by using natural events and it’s NRGY to propel you along at the same time reaching at least one of your major goals.
The great part about this is that 5 years down the road, you won’t feel as if you’ve wasted your time and Life NOT having achieve something.
The other goals will have partially built up pictures, and all you’ll need to do is paint in the closest one that seems the most likely to succeed given your new reference of having achieved a milestone goal. Once you get the hang of it, things will really be on a roll. Don’t get too carried away and put so much more on your fan platter that you’ll drop the ball if it breaks down. Remember this is all initially built with Willpower and your Mind’s Eye. Nothing else will get the job done unless you truly believe in it. No one will be willing to push up that mountain to your goal. So easy does it, Baby Steps, break up it, divide and conquer. Your Dance of Life & NRGY begins with the most simple of things, and that’s taking the first small step instead of a giant leap. You can do that once you’ve got the hang of it.
