Pros and Cons both ways.  Certainly the ‘NEW’ workplace paradigm of officeless culture and more casual work & play has merit.  The off the wall ideas bring unexpected richness and possible jackpots by off the cuff remarks.  Tensions & release provides a spring mechanism seed idea philosophy into possible Dances of Life by the very nature of it’s NRGY being captured in real time in person face to face.  There are very other little ways to experience the richness of social contacts by proximity.

The whole experience of sight, sound, tensions, pressure, release, work, play springs forth Life and Evolution.

Yet let’s not forget some who excel on their own.  They are consider lone wolves and dogs cut loose from the pack.  Those wanderers are on missions to find their place if they don’t already know and understand it intuitively with the expressed purpose to provide an out of the box outsiders look at a functional system taking place elsewhere in time and distance being called today the workplace.

They’re all good, each with their faults and strengths.  It’s up to individuals to state their cases with integrity as to why they should opt in or out of the social workplace.  Team is passe, social is in to generate ideas that never would have seen the light of day in the past.

If you stick this generation into a office stall and try to milk the cow, you’ll end up with curds at some point.  Give them the free flowing space they need to be them within reason in social settings and watch your company and it’s mission hit all the right notes.  Music never have sounded so good.

The outsider can give their view of what it looks like from a different angle.  In the end that one counts as much as those who create.  There are exceptions to every rule and smart leaders know how to put whom where when it’s time.  Make use of NRGY and have it work for everyone instead of fighting internal battles wasting NRGY & Time while competitors get their acts together and you bite the dust.

Those are the skills of a great leader – use NRGY efficiently and wisely at the right times.
