Health care to get a boost, but critics slam premium hikes
While I applaud many initiatives from the different provinces on how to handle health care costs, continually rising health premiums are like never ending gasoline prices at the pump without getting the promised gas mileage from the vehicle.
It becomes a tug of war. One jumping and getting ahead of the other with no end in sight.
So here is another angle.
Moderate the cost of educating health care professionals. If their educational and professional costs keep escalating with huge debt loads when they finish their formal education, why would they settle for less than market price on all things health and their ROI after so many years of hard work learning.
As a professional in other fields I wouldn’t. I understand that those who go into health care do so with an eye and mind on compassionate care for patients.
But so do Police officers and Fire Fighters. Are they less enumerated for their performances than doctors, nurses who care for our very lives when in dire need and emergencies. The trust factor alone should commandeer a premium if you an argument alone on the topic.
To implicitly put trust in another’s opinion when we are at our most vulnerable should say it all. I don’t know about many of you, but if you’re planning on cutting corners at those times, thank you very much but I’ll seek other options.
Time to change the way we view how formulas of compensation should be calculated. Maybe even on the way they are taxed. I’m not the expert, but viewing it from the outside critically sure has my wheels thinking hard that this is still not quite right.
