Editorial: Privacy is a hallowed right

I whole heartedly agree with the Ottawa Citizen on this matter.

Let me add the following to the editorial.

The Right and Freedoms we enjoy today have been hard won battles over time. Long ago and throughout many nations even nascent ones in battles for survival. The inhabitants of the lands would be slaughtered one by one depending on their beliefs, race, creed and public expressions of discontent, fear and mere slights.

Whether the slaughters and deaths were caused by advancing armies, under religious convictions whose beliefs where first and foremost the final objectives or skewed and twisted minds who imprisoned, bound and tortured individuals for daring to challenge and speak out, privacy held higher estate values than property rights, power and money.

It is no coincidence in my humble opinion that people around the globe under the guise of go forth and multiple have been victims of governments, religions and those with political ambitions of power and prestige that have been literally wiped away.

Let me ask this critical question – would any present day Government or religious order admit without fear of reprisal and incrimination the decisions that where made a few hundred years ago with the conquests of North and South American natives ? Just to bare their souls and ask for forgiveness.

How about World War 2 admissions ???

The United States Declaration of Independence got it right and we bare testimony to it’s powerful message from the few who dared in secrecy under penalties of treason to chart a new course and direction from simply Taxation without Representation under the veil of privacy.

Where would we be today as a world entity without those brave souls. Where would we be today without that sacrosanct and legitimate right to privacy without fear or reprisals, imprisonment, being labeled mentally ill and lost of all rights and freedoms.

Yes there are nut cases out there. Yes there is evil in the hearts and minds of many. It is all Governments duties to protect itself and it’s citizens. Yet a clear and present danger should be balance by transparency and accountability – all of it on the table for the public to measure it’s rights and freedoms so hard won that it should not slip and slide back to the Middle Ages of Spanish Inquisition paradigms.

We as a whole human race deserve better and to dream of a better world for our children. Otherwise we are as guilty as those who enslave us by subtle methods of deception into believing that we are going after terrorists and pedophiles.

We all have something vital to lose if we don’t speak up. In this time of great change with the NET connected EVERYTHING, emails can be deciphered in an instant without snooping directly in someone’s computers and devices. It’s been that way for a long time.

I believe that Governments need to do a better job of making it clear what and why they want to do things other than slamming Bills and Laws in OMNIBUS BILLS while hiding the truth from us all.

Otherwise, let’s get right to it and tear up the Constitutions we have. Meaningless beautiful words do no one justice and good. Certainly not to my innocent children and the meek.

Every connected electronic device is a potential spy on your privacy, not just email. Where do we draw the lines to our fascination to all things technological. Will A.I. one day govern us and tell us what to think, do and say ??? Answer that now before it’s too late ! At that point privacy concerns will mean diddly squat !

Trying to hold a conversation and winning an argument against something or someone who is GOD will be pointless. Never mind trying to convince it or Him otherwise.
