In the early ’70’s after moving to Ottawa and in my early teens, I remember a young emeciated couple in rough shape renting a room from my father. Both were his employees. Somehow the memory today of watching a worker open a cold can of Campbells soup and eating it triggered the memory.
Apparently I was made aware at the time they were eating cold canned dog food right from the can. As hard it was at the time for me to believe it, today the connect seems to be all about them not having money and being broke and paying for drugs. God just remembered now she got pregnant.
I just don’t quite get it -yet !
