Editorial: A complacency tax

Maybe yes, maybe no. Remember when it looks like Lemmings, acts like Lemmings and walks off cliffs like Lemmings then it must be by all logical deductions Lemmings. To think otherwise would certify you into a pool of fools.

Now, with over a Century of getting Canada to act like and feel like and be like – well Canadian after the 1812 War resolved it once and for all, let us look at things objectively shall we.

NAFTA aside – International Trade Lawyer’s Pirate Parley speak, most of our current, you can come up with the stats, comes from China, oui??? It’s still Chinese if shipped to Mexico, United States and related territories and then sent to Canada.

So which part of more expensive for Canadian products shall I spell out. T.A.X.E.S. !!! Aren’t we told day in and day out that all manners of computers are making inefficiencies in the system and reducing costs, while cannibalizing employment???

There’s no longer any excuse and reason to have HUMONGOUS PRICE discrepancies as in the past. I’ll grant an exception and that is Health Care. Still, even there we’re conscious of keeping costs in check.

So again, I’ll repeat myself at the risk of looking like a fool – are Canadians really Lemmings having been lead down the garden path and yellow brick roads to personal bankruptcy paying huge debts on products that are at best just about 100 km or 60 miles to the south and American border to buy the same product much cheaper at Walmart and Target outlets. Just because there’s more people living down south of the border does not mean that prices should be cheaper. Not logical – fallacy and wool pull over our collective eyes for much too long. It’s time to revisit all our assumptions and come up with a better way of doing business.

The major risk if we don’t is to become irrelevant in an INTERNET connected to EVERYTHING WORLD and Canadians shopping for the same thing from Africans or Mauritians.

Eventually it could be from Martians with no taxes. How’s that fit in your plans ! Piece of Pi from the Sky and little green men.
