In my opinion, and I’ve traveled many a roads, Ottawa has to have one of the worst records for transportation infrastructure planning in the world considering it is a Capitol.

I’m ashamed of having driven it’s roads only to not have opined about it earlier.

Given it’s attempts to emulate and mimic Washington D.C. in vision, it falls far short.

Once touted as a world class Transit leader, it’s purchase of articulated buses stuck left right and center in weather obviously not fit for ducks and wildlife is a joke.

It’s only 1 way arterial expressway called the Queensway would be more aptly named Shameway. It is a joke and the worst part is that nothing has been done to it since the Hi-Tech dot com boon of the early century.

It has only piecemeal made patches here and there to an aging highway design concept based from the ’50’s and ’60’s mindset.

If Ottawa ever tries to compare itself with any city, let it something from the boondocks and Timbuktu, cause in my books it’s horrible and truly shameful for a city nearing 1 million in population.

I’m willing to wager that the new transit LRT plan won’t be any better because of lack of vision that I have seen to date.

Pics are great marketing tools, then don’t cut the mustard the grassroots when the rubber hits the road. Wait and see who right once it’s said and done.

Am I passionate about the state and condition of Ottawa, yes cause I’ve been there done that. Sadly much too late after putting up with the BS for the last 40 years of my life driving and taking public transit for that time.

I’m impressed with Calgary. Yes it’s expensive, yes there are growth headaches, but they have no choice in trying to solve it because the alternative would be paralysis.

BTW – who’s the idiot who decided that double decker buses should be on Ottawa’s winter roads ???
