Never did get to see the Batmobile in person, but I did get to see Batman & Robin in a convertible back in the late ’60’s on Boul. Chomedy in Laval.
Back to my story from a Dog’s age ago about Laval and it’s current City Hall location – 1 Pl du Souvenir, Chomedy.
I would almost have to say that it was in Parc Saint-Martin that i met both Batman & Robin back then. After a very long bicycle ride from Morin Street in Duvernay/St Vincent de Paul that I felt I had no choice but to go and determined to make sure that I wouldn’t miss seeing them.
That drive and determination is still burnt into my mind from so long ago. Hot summer day and I didn’t really have a clue where I was going, but nonetheless still managed to find the park where they were scheduled to appear. Seems to me though that the park was bordering Saint Martin & the current side street Rue Favreau. There was no side street at the time, just fields.
Anyways no make a long story short, I and a whole lot of other people waited like what seemed long hours on end without a no show. Part of me was riveted on Batman & Robin, the other half on the Batmobile.
Alas, when I had all but given up thinking they wouldn’t show up and being quick late into the evening thinking I would have trouble getting back home in the dark, both Batman & Robin showed up in a convertible.
I was very happy, but also sad that I never got to see that Batmobile. Around and around they drove in circles to the fans delight. Once I had my fill, off back into the sunset towards home on my bike.
Never really kinda gave it another thought about my compelling need to see them in person, other than I liked the TV show. Of course then a few years later I moved to Rosemere and then I really got into comic collections while at my father’s convenience store. They were all free. Kept those collector’s items until I decided to throw them away when I moved to Ottawa. Too bad…. 10 cents, 15 cents, 25 cent collector’s items. Sigh…..
Never truly figured out if that was Adam West and Burt Ward in the convertible, highly doubt it now.
C’est La Danse de la Vie !
