First Nations must answer probing questions — for their own benefit
Well said and good points. Let’s step back here for a moment shall we. Let’s look at the big picture.
Honestly can we say that the plight of First Nations and it’s people have improved. Some places yes, most no. It’s in the places that have had success that we can find inspiration. In places like Attawapiskat whoever is at fault, regardless it’s time to change and fix it.
I don’t believe that Theresa Spence would have been willing to sacrifice herself to opposition of all sorts knowing about the danming state of financial affairs in Attawapiskat.
So the question begs, why is she doing this. Like all others, I believe it’s to ask for help in many varied forms. Administrative and financial being the main ones that will help turn things around. Whatever hasn’t worked out in the past she is willing to put it on the line to change things.
If we’re only going to kill off all the wounded prisoners once they’re gathered up, more will be willing to take there place. Then begins an escalation game leading to more violence. Violence begets violence. The blame game has got to stop and that begins with changing the views we all have about one another.
The First Nations would probably not be in these sorry states of affairs had they not learnt from the conduct of the white man.
So, yes there are many problems, let’s get on with fixing them instead of going around Dancing like a bunch of idiots and singing the same old songs – who’s to blame.
I’m giving her points for sticking her neck out there, help is not entitlement here, it’s our duty. But we also are aware that we don’t want to have to be dealing with these issues in another 100 years.
At least I’m clear that I don’t want my children and their children to be impacted by claims down the road. And I truly want First Nations to stand up and be proud of their heritage and True Free Spirits.
Final question – are we Masters of our own Fates or continually Slave to it ??? Take charge and become Masters for a change. Your eternal Spirit will thank you.
