Why is coming out still such a big deal in the 21st century. It’s not like it was a dark secret about Jodie? I’ve been aware of it for long time. I’ve followed Jodie’s career since childhood and for whatever it’s worth, I’ve always enjoyed her acting notwithstanding her personal private life and sexual orientation.
We gets me is that we make such a big deal about personal decisions when it comes time to chose what we like sexually. I think the operating word here is that the religious right seems to have the final word. Well looks like it’s a whole new ballgame where personal decisions about one’s Dance of Life trumps public opinion.
What should happen is to go back over the decades of records about Movie/Music Stars who were Gay/Lesbians and righting the wrongs against them. They were truly in the closet hells for fear of losing what little they had of success, money, fame and fans.
This isn’t a witch hunt. It’s to right the perceptions and clear the names of those people who were to scared at the time to speak up and take a stand.
