The Guardian online – Amnesty International staff battle management over restructuring

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/dec/02/amnesty-international-staff-management-restructuring

As always it’s all about the timing and how appropriate this article came up. Expectedly as will others I’m convinced.

Anyways – I agree with management on this – having a staff of 500 or whatever is nonsense. If only to fatten up people and get them to smooze and hob nob elite.

What as the staff is saying though merits comment – it’s the execution stupid. If a CEO isn’t clear as a bell and whistle, singing in Tongues ain’t gonna cut it anymore when everything is going Digital.

Have clarity of message, intent and purpose with milestones and deadlines and spread it out from there. Like it or not, that’s the way business moves at the speed of light in a global economy which impacts nations, governments and people who are abused. If you prefer the good old days in which Dinosaurs just wondered about – you’ll be used, abused and discarded faster than a petrol engine uses fuel.

And why do I take such a stand – let me tell you about a huge posh property on Laurier Ave in Ottawa with the name ‘AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL’.

Ottawa does not need such a lavish property to get it’s message out to the diplomatic community. The planet already is familiar with the Canadian Gouvernments stance of Human Rights.

Put money where it counts – and that’s at local levels where people are hurting. At least now the staff in London understand. Pain/Pleasure happens Consciously and by Choice – it’s a BDSM world out there – Let Amnesty International take us all on a better World Tour in another direction. It’s gonna have to take baby steps to do it. Times are a changing and 2013 is a good place to start if any.

Best of Luck
