As usual all my antennas are up and pointed like little green men from Mars when someone tells me about the latest survey, polls and opinions this & that. So don’t mind if I change channels and say I want more than a single web site that’s busier than bees in the summer. Hey it’s still a bird’s eye view + busy body bees that gets the whole picture rolling – not just opinions and fancy hats that sways opinion depending on the latest fad bought with perhaps money and more.
So without further ado…. No National Certifications – then MAKE IT SO
Furthermore, don’t forget that the organics business started at mom/pop/kids grassroots level. Don’t let this certification business become the next big pork farm with a Monsanto flavor that will drive everyone bats, nuts and then some.
It doesn’t have to take so much money and shut out so many little people at the grassroots level that want to sell local.
So make exceptions and keep in mind there’ll be disagreements in time and the natural tendency will be to regroup into bigger and bigger organizations. Resist, reduce and encourage local organics with standards that make sense – not dollars. Every area will want it’s own say, so accommodate within reason.
It’s the intent, purpose of bringing good wholesome food to people’s tables quickly, efficiently, personally and without a huge expense of NRGY to get it there. That’s what Thanksgiving is all about. If food has to travel all around the world just because it passes organic certification and costs tons of money, pollution and waste of NRGY, then that’s not ORGANIC.
