The Guardian News online – Coffee is not dead – but it is losing its wild side

Take 5 for a moment. Let me go through memory files just a sec. Oh, yeah – got it, isn’t that the story about running out of Oil & Gas, jacking up prices to stratospheric levels and having chicken little running saying the sky is falling and the climate’s wooping our asses. Oops, Sandy – excuse me, won’t do that again.

Okay – So NRGY prices are up, got it. Shipping goes up from Arabica World to my beside coffee table. Check. Now let’s go over the part where prices are at International Space Station height – going nowhere but up, even though quality like the station is fighting for it’s life everyday just to make sure it stays where it’s suppose to be – high up in the sky.

So, now the story is we’re running out of beans. Is that the type that gives up gas or the type that burns a hole in your stomach because the quality isn’t as stated?

You know, I don’t call myself a coffee connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination. Unlike beer that I can really really tell the difference between hops, barley, malts and such…. coffee to tell the truth in terms of taste – I can’t stand. So it’s been masked by tons of coffee cream since drinking the stuff from the mid ’70’s.

On the great side of the ledger for a moment, let me just say that I finally broke that hold of cream in my coffee now for the last 2 weeks. Been drinking dirty black tasting coffee – Arabica beans. Yuk, but I can drink the stuff. Funny thing, what’s been going on now for the last year or so – I can actually taste the awfulness if there’s such a word of a poor blend of coffee beans.

Yep, you read here first – coffee quality has had it’s corners cut. So you paying more for it, not because we’re running out, not because real GAS is in short supply – but because all the other food companies have decided to JACK UP THEIR PRICES at the same time – so what the hell, coffee & company might as well jump on the bandwagon – how appropriate – a Tune and story that actually jives.

So, to all the companies out there having cut this, changed that and jacked off while trying to pull the wool as usual over people’s eyes with falsehoods – that it the chute and tell it like it is. People won’t like, but at least they’ll decide for themselves how they want to get screwed.

The old boys stories of supply and demand vs prices ain’t coming clean in the wash any longer.

And for God’s sake, do something about shitty coffee blends.
