B.C. earthquakes, Hurricane Sandy prompt homeowners to check insurance coverage
There’s no point throwing money uselessly into insurance coverage for Earthquakes on the West Coast.
The point being that since the Big One hasn’t hit yet, it’s chances of it happening increase exponentially each and every day that it hasn’t happened yet and is far more likely to be what happens next. No insurance coverage will cover something so big, so devastating that insurance companies will be able to handle the payout on such an event.
You are better off putting your hard earned money in some farther inland safe location and wait it out. You’ll be able to rebuild with at least some measure of certainty.
The Big One is a certainty and not a question of if, but when. Be smart and take precautions while the going is good.
If you insist on insurance coverage, get some to mow the lawn and fix the backyard shed if a minor quake has a hiccup and see how your insurance coverage handles that without a fight.
