Let me just add my 2 cents worth here. If a mother, father or caregiver where to put a young helpless baby or child in scalding water, there would be serious repercussions – possibly even criminal charges.
I expect no less of a mindset focused on the safety from caregivers charged with the well being of disabled and/or seniors than you could normally expect from parents and/or the caregivers of young helpless children.
A public inquiry on the matter will cost money to come back to the same argue as present – sensitivity training about compassionate care is good, but ultimately making it a crime to intentionally turn a blind eye and not care should be punishable with severe consequences.
It almost equates on the level of attempted murder in my opinion. Dis-passionate Care is a step past bullying and actually prequel and setup of causes leading to death of vulnerable sectors of society who cannot speak for themselves.
Time to turn things around – change the mindset of people who are in care industry – to do the right moral and ethical thing.
