Alberta in the red $14-billion for pension liability, maintenance deficit
Okay in my own backyard. Not impressed is my first impression, but I lack a whole context of circumstances in which to frame my response given that I’ve only been here in Alberta a few months.
It’ll be a permanent base for me, no doubt about it and I’m stating my views and opinions from the get go before this goes totally wrong with the road ahead.
How in God’s name, pardon the pun being Buddhist, Taoist myself could Alberta be in such a situation? Someone needs to enlighten me at warp speed and bring me up to speed on every fiscal matters about Alberta.
Yes, I’m counting on the newspapers as a treasured information source.
So here it is. A province with unlimited NRGY resources in many forms, yet in positions of fiscal imbalance. How can that possibly be? How can people in power have taken what Peter Lougheed considered what Mattered Most to Albertans and turned things in the opposite direction.
It is truly a moral question for those of conscience.
I honestly and sincerely urge those in positions of authority to change the direction and path this is leading too. Become the model of envy and place framework models that fit the reality of endless opportunity for all Canadians so that all types of business thrive and every Albertan can profit from and become successful on a globally connected world.
A few men and women here and there with lots of money, doesn’t cut it anymore. Alberta needs a whole lot more if it is to compete on the world stage – China will overtake and buy all of Alberta’s resources in the blink of an eye. People, resources and future. It’ll become a have not province if the prosperity base is limited in the hands of a few.
Mark my words, well, move to change the way Governement handles it’s most important resource – people first and their qualities of life and then resources.
Exploiting people and exporting NRGY will result in a decline of the very thing that Peter Lougheed stood for. Wise people know how to balance both properly and still profit from it without causing harm – to people, the environment, industries, companies and the government itself.
It’s time for Alberta to chart it’s destiny and Master it. Become the shining symbol that everyone aspires to become – great. For a change, it’s time Canada becomes the model that everyone wants to emulate. Alberta should be the leader with the best models. Go on, put a footstamp on it and giddy up Cowboys and Girls. It’s a whole new frontier now in the 21st century – it’s a global stage and Alberta deserves the right to be on Top.
Leave better legacies for the future then struggling thru debt debates.
The Choice is clear – wake up and smell the Wild Roses.
