WHISTLEBLOWERS: MOMENT OF TRUTH

http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/2012-2013/2012/10/whistleblowers-moment-of-truth.html

My my ain’t news convenient on timing. You’ll have to excuse me for the cynicism of watching the Fifth Estate on TV Friday night on whistleblower(I believe that it’s a repeat – TV shows at parents seem to repeat way too often – almost as if intentional).

Anyways back to the subject at hand – Whistleblowers and the Integrity Commission. This is going to be a long hard sell getting people to ruin their lives just to tell the truth. Not many people have the stomach to handle tackling governments and industries hell bent on destroying your lives if you don’t pitch in and row the boat the way they’re going.

Case in point – being fired at CMC Stairs in Calgary for not fitting it. Groupies of employees going on Saturdays to work without any bosses around just to get their thrills of smoking crack on breaks didn’t sit well with me. I don’t really care what people do on their own personal time – it’s their lives. But at work – hell no. If you need drugs so badly to do your thing, then do your thing at home or whatever you call it. Hence, not fitting in got the co-workers to gang up against me and got me fired for standing my ground.

So be it – at least I got stair building on my resume and lived out another dream and fantasy of one day learning how to do that. The day to day nightmare of still being their doing my part regardless of the stress and tension is over. What I feel sorry for now are the good people being unsuspecting victims of going to work there in the future. It’s a safe bet that the place is bound to destroy your spirit if your not strong enough to withstand the peer pressure of corruption. The place definitely needs new management, union representation, safeguards as well as oversight.

As for the government – change begins at the Top, Whistleblowers should just point out the obvious and let NRGY do all the work. It’s a no brainer in something as big as public service. Speak loudly, clearly and make sure the media hears. Then step out of the way once it’s documented. I’ll take it from there.

Follow you conscience in everything you do. You’ll thank your lucky stars later – trust me.
