And we’re complaining about skilled labour shortages here in Canada, especially Alberta.
Well here’s some news and insight into the future for the uneducated. Let’s speed up the scenarios here shall we.
Those in current and future skilled training – ha, I say to getting employed for the lowest bottom annual salary dollar. Not happy, with how much your going to make with your debt loads? Think a little bit further than the tip of your nose.
I’m betting that China with it’s hunger to come up to light speed on everything modern is considering the following possibilities.
A A-Ha moment if you will. Chinese interests will start hiring people here in and elsewhere at a faster and faster clip to feed it’s insatiable appetite. Remember that China is a country of very practical measures. First acquire physical resources, then people with skills. If they can’t be found amongst it’s own population, then search the globe. And it’ll hire and hire and hire. Until the country has it’s own skilled workforce in numbers sufficient to match it’s appetite for development. Call it if you will, a foreign temp job of say more than a decade at least if not two. Then unless you’re at the top of an elite nest of sharp eyed eagles, you’ll be expendable.
Well at least you know ahead of time. Plan accordingly. And remember, brush up on your Oriental philosophy and cultural knowledge 101 courses to get an edge on the masses vying for the job opportunities.
Of course that doesn’t say much for our own workforces. Declines all around. Dead baby boomers, burnt out x,y,z generations, incarcerated populations, too many seniors on life support and immigrants with no skillsets. My my what a rosy healthy picture western societies have painted. And what, computers and the Net to the rescue. Good luck with that if someone thinks we can automate everything and not expect social upheavals of epic proportions. No one will be insulated from the arrogance and stupidity of idiots who will have painted everyone into corners.
So there you go, in a nutshell things will get wacky to say the least. Does Hollywood have any major movies up their magic sleeves on perspectives of what all this might look like??? Doomsday scenarios aside, it’s another walk in the park for the human race. Change taking over, although not as expected. Let’s all hold our collective breaths and see how this pans out.
