Toronto Sun online – Scarborough teacher still guilty of poor judgment

This an issue that I feel merits a comment in this case.

I totally agree with the judge’s decision in this matter.

However, let’s just remember one thing. Whether or not whatever happened is true, lives have been shattered. Another teen has probably gotten away with what I would consider close to murder. Teens are a lot sharper than they use to be. In fact now I would consider it role reversal in terms of them being the leaders of these types of situations and even go so far as to say they are the instigators of causing many of these situations in educational settings to take place.

While I would definitely agree that after 17 years of teaching, alarm bells should have been heard loud and clear, this is not a case of an online pedophile looking to prey and exploit children.

What I would simply ask, is for the teacher to have better common sense and have learnt from the bitter experience. Asking that somehow putting whatever she has left of dignity as a human being together enough to remain true as a mother.

Her own child(ren) are innocent victims in all of this. They should not pay have to pay a price for what has happened. Society is responsible in measure to make sure that a spiral is not created to recreate the same repetition of mistakes down the road by another child who had to suffer from a mother’s actions. Strike while the going is good and let’s make repairs before it too becomes insurmountable.

Somehow, somewhere, someone is able to help this women put her life back on track and remain accountable. She should become a visible forum by Conscious Choice to help make changes in the educational system so to avoid the same pitfalls by others caught in the same situations. Naive or not.

Something like MADD in schools and all other programs.

One last word, where was the husband all along while this was happening. My question surrounds the conduct of the husband that may have been an important alarm in this case. What happened there ??? Critical thinking allows us to see things from many directions. Ask, dig, don’t stop. Then maybe we’ll get better pictures and be able to make better informed decisions.
