Toronto Sun online – Bite-sized bills easier to digest

Well said Toronto Sun. Congrats.

Budget bills are about the bottom line affecting Governments and it’s citizens. It should stay that way, to make Canada Revenue Agency’s job easier in implenting tax law changes and treating it’s client honestly and in a fair manner under it’s powers.

Omnibus bills can always come in with other government business as long as it’s purpose is to expedite an important matter and issue clearly demonstrated as in the best interest of Canadians.

Other than that, bills should be open to public scrutiny, criticism and debate so that the government can make ammendments prior to passing bills and sending it to the Senate for it’s approval. Everybody wins as long as a good majority supports the government.

Shrouding details in telephone book bills was done away by Bell Canada a long time ago. It actually took the time to separate their directories into sections of cities so that the most relevant information would be easier to access.

I’ll leave it at that. While it’s a matter of getting everything you want passed, in my humble opinion, it’s not the best way to serve one’s country and it’s citizens. Including your own children and their future offsprings who will be impacted by them.
