….. “The day has come, finally,” said Axel Pawlik, managing director of the Ripe NCC that hands out addresses to European ISPs, firms and other organisations……

This should be more interesting than Y2K which flopped out of hitting the panic button without any real substantial evidence of problems.

At least we know that this problem is real… Why, because at lot of software is meant to use old IPv4 TCP stacks for sending and transimitting data. Were the problem will reside is in financial transactions. I’ll bet you 10 to 1 that banks and financial instituitions including governments have been on this for a good while. However, there’s a whole sh$tload of small custom designed software that has the potential to crash related to financial transactions.

And that’s the least of it… lets see how this pans out! No choice to hit the panic button on this one, we’ve connected just about everything under the sun now to the net and still counting. There’s a lot more at stake now than there ever was. Lights, may not go out, but dollars my just go poof! Welcome to the world of computers and electronic devices and their endless possibilities.
