Okay here’s what’s wrong with working in unsafe conditions

Around power tools of any type such as table saws, bandsaws, machinery – clear marked floor lines that is a demarcation point where an operator has confidence to work without interruptions from people and the unimpeded movement of items on a shop floor. All workers should be clearly instructed and refreshed on safety protocols once a week to brand the image of safety in people’s minds.

Shop floors are to be cleaned constantly with easy reach to such items that will help expedite it in a manner in proximity and consistent with the work that is required to be done by that worker.

There should be a clear chain of command and appointed safety officer. If question cannot be answered and it is important for the safety of workers, then a clear and open cellphone, landline, text message, email or tin can directly to a supervisor 24/7/365 be available at all times for an answer.

Protocol on how to approach a person working with power tools so as not to disrupt the work and cause physical injury to either person(s).

Clear protocol of hand-off procedures from one supervisor to another should the in charge supervisor need to leave a shop, company floor in the event of an emergency.

All workers are to be informed at hiring that harassment whether sexual in nature or not is not tolerated and subject to immediate dismissal from employment.

Ditto for threats issued to another person. Immediate grounds for dismissal.

Drugs on the job are not permitted and ditto for dismissal.

Conduct dangerous towards the safety of oneself and/or others is not tolerated and again subject to possible dismissal if a warning is not heeded to immediately correct the conduct.

List of acceptable/unacceptable things related to work conduct given at the onset of hiring. Talking about the information and providing it is unacceptable. Too much new information that is forgotten given the learning curve of the position and state of mind of the new hired hand.

All employees are required by law to inform all supervisors and bosses of any problem within the work environment so that they may not claim to have been left out of the loop by lower managers, supervisors.

Time frame for corrective action on all matters.

Posted in the shop or company as to who the exact legal owners of the company are. This way, everyone knows how shit is suppose to run upwards in the event of a problem.

Paperwork and log journals as support documentation of followed procedures by law.
