Actually it’s the new “in”… if memory serves me correctly, I experienced my very first microbreweries in Bethel, Maine near Sunday River Resort. Absolutely wonderful at the time and pissed that a country like Canada couldn’t get it’s act together given it’s British Roots.
Alas it’s taken me from approximately 1994 until now in 2012 to rediscover the fine Craftsmanship of Beer in a Canadian city called Calgary.
Shame on you Ottawa, or is that piss on you for your lousy beer. Even Ashton is getting it’s act together before the downtown core.
By the way, if there’s a place you want to be bored out of your mind it’s Ottawa as a Tourist – only sweet spot is Parliament buildings, but hey that was built years ago by people with imagination for architecture. If you’re into museums, it’ll be all indoors, and never mind the sorely funded Museum of Science. Better hurry if you’re into paddling the canal cause it seems like it’s long days in the summer season are numbered. Oh, well off to the London Olympics and wonderful beer in England is a better choice.
