Proof that Ottawa’s bylaws are out to lunch once again! Ottawa Citizen online – Mobile restaurant too big for city bylaw

Where there’s a will there’s a way to do business and tell the city of Ottawa where to stick it!

Cut the trailer in half at 30′ for the walk-in fridge and tow a second trailer behind the first. Use an articulated cover like OCTranspo’s articulated buses as a temp cover once on-site and use it as usual. If all else fails, tow the second walk-in to site and hitch it up once parked.

If OCTranspo articulated buses and 53′ 18 wheeler rigs can run around the city of Ottawa, a 46′ trailer with a business owner doing legal business shouldn’t be an issue. This is proof positive of the cave man mentality of not moving with the times. Change Ottawa, cause I’m going to do it for you – the hard way if necessary and it’s going to cost dearly for stupidity.

Business owners have too long been subjected to onerous petty and horrible costs just for trying to make a living and provide people with what’s in demand. Get creative and help instead of having them fail. Ottawa is a piss poor model of what a City should not be doing. Perfect template of eMBA 101 economic graduates in stupidity on all levels. God I love being in Calgary – Only thing here is that Tim Hortons downtown is about to get my wrath for not having 24hr wide-open door policies. Drive thrus are open, but not store fronts. If Ottawa with a meager population of less than 1,000,000 can do it and in terrible neighborhoods, than Calgary isn’t a problem. If loitering or whatnot is an issue, put full time security staff on-site. With the daytime megabucks revenues, this isn’t an issue. Hell, don’t even think of trying to weasel out of this considering my knowledge and expertise on the subject. Tim Hortons you’ve been warned.
