Akin to today’s drive thrus, power outlets will be their equivalent in the near future. Tim Hortons has a great business model, however it’s current Achilles heel is the lack of power outlets that I have gripped about for who knows how long now.
With the onslaught of upcoming mobile devices for every purpose under the Sun, people will be going where the power plugs are to get their fixes. You can call it the next up and coming addiction if you will. Smartphones batteries dying in the midst of a financial transaction will certainly tick off more than a few people. I can just see the next young geek guru doing an IPO and his battery 6 feet deep. Get he/she won’t be buying coffee and whatnot there again. Might piss them just enough to build another competitor to whatever sit-in shop he/she was in. Hmmm, food for thought.
Sure mobile batteries are getting better, but there’s a limit to that weight you are willing to carry around in your purse, pant pocket or shirt. The Motorola cellphone bricks of the past has no place in today’s society considering we are moving at record speeds trying to make new financial survival models work in this new economy for our upcoming retirement plans. Everyone’s got it that you can rely on Governments to help there.
Just imagine a drive thru in the future where you get to plug in your electric vehicle and hence your electronic devices all while ordering a coffee and bagel or donut! Cashier shouting out – “that will be $200.00 please”. – Hey, filling stations of the future are closer than you think given the current state of affairs. Will that be Play & Pray for a Plug —- or Play, Plug and Pay!
Those with present Power Outlets in house have a decided advantage as far as I’m concerned. They have an edge on my business and soon the untold other mobile masses. Get on it boys and girls or you’ll soon find yourselves dinosaur relics of the old time nickel and dime stores of the past.
While it seems I’m fixated on coffee shops, fear not – restaurants, pubs and yes even Walmart are going to have to come up with plug-in stations while in their businesses. Hey even in silent mode, theatres might be even want to think about it. Change has never had so many visible options.
