E.I. – Whatever you want to call it, it needs reform but compassionately

Whether it’s called Unemployment Insurance or now better known as Employment Insurance, changing it again as suggested and a new term coined as Employment Entitlement, taking money from people and not giving them a sense of fallback as employees leaves them vulnerable and at worst victims of deception. Promising the moon to people and pulling the rug from under them when they most need it is unconscionable.

Employees are followers for the most part. What we are asking of everyone with quick and precipitous changes is for them to pull up their britches and slap on a pair of pants and balls to become leaders and business entities. All without fallback financial resources that should be available to them if they have paid into a system. Come to think of it, sounds alot like Old Age Security pension changes. People are humans, not machines. Financial changes are necessary if Canada’s financial wherewithal on the global stage is to go prime time. We as a nation are coming into our own, yet the model must encompass compassion and yes we will make mistakes. There are no rule books out there on the forthcoming changes. Conscious Awareness and compassion will have to be our spiritual guides.

Bottom line is let us not make E.I. become Entitlement Insurance and make it look like negative option billing.

Besides, you cannot force someone in this day and age into jobs they consider humiliating and demeaning in their sense of self accomplishment towards their dreams. They will only sabotage their employers and bring down more failed businesses. With no sense of hope, people will revolt against order. Basic necessities of life are necessary because of global horizontal movement of people into jobs, new lives and futures. Governments can accomplish this successfully if their measures are within reason and explained publicly, but most importantly accountable when mistakes are made so they can be corrected within short order. Prolonged pain only creates heighten tensions that leads to social unrest and ultimately chaos. Who then determines destinies and decides on the fate of the many? For the most part, I believe in my humble opinion that people want to work. It helps to define them and gives them a sense of purpose here on earth. Help those who passionately believe in working towards the betterment of all and clearly explain conscious choices with outcome scenarios for those who hesitate or don’t understand their own. Forcing is never the answer. Better have almost everyone rowing in the same direction, otherwise you end up with another Titanic.
