Soldiers, Calgary and the environment

One of the things that influenced me to move to Calgary was my elementary schooling.  I was asked as art of a school project to draw the flags of our 10 provinces.  Alberta’s stood out and struck a note.  So to was learning about the D.E.W. line.  Little did I truly understand it’s significance at the time.  It was just fascinating that something So far up North was important.  Today, we’ve replaced thus early warning system with satellites and better microwave and computers.  However, it’s been sweep under the rug and from the radar of our consciousness as a relic of the cold war.  With soldiers coming back from overseas, now would be a good time to put good people to work for a good cause to cleanup the mess left behind from decades ago.  Why, because global warming will extend the reach of damage from these abandoned polluted sites. It’s good politics and visionary thinking being proactive on the issue.
